Playlist watch time and playback speed: what the numbers mean
Why full duration stays the same at 2× speed, how wall-clock time is estimated, and how to plan longer courses or series.

Total playlist duration is the sum of each video’s length at 1× speed. When you increase playback speed, each minute of content takes less wall-clock time, but the catalog itself does not shrink.
For planning, compare the headline total with the speed-adjusted line: that second figure answers “how long will I sit here if I watch at this speed,” which is what many learners and viewers actually care about.
Rounding and very short clips can make small differences between manual estimates and API-backed totals; the calculator uses the same duration values YouTube exposes for each video resource.
